SPRING SHOES

Here’s the thing: An outfit is only as good as what’s at the very bottom of it. Nothing can make or break your overall ensemble like your shoes (except maybe the weather, especially if you’re wearing a white dress). For those moments when you gaze upon your shoe rack and realize you’re really not feeling confident about your collection for the upcoming season, I have a few thoughts.

I can go for a run, scroll through Instagram, or read a book. There are plenty of downtime activities worth engaging in when I find myself with a rare moment of couch time. But honestly, I’m probably just going to spend it browsing Nordstrom’s shoe section, because… they have them all.

We’re working with a lot of material here, friends. Seasonal shoes, timeless shoes, there are literally thousands of pairs ready to perk you right up out of whatever shoe rut is currently plaguing you. So I don’t understand how people get in and out of here without full carts, I really don’t.

Case in point (or case in wedges, actually): I spotted these Alexandre Birman wedge sandals on Nordstrom and literally built the remainder of an outfit around. This Tibi Drape Twill Wrap dress and straw bag (woven bags are a sign of summer’s approach, you know this is true) are completely pulled together by the cuteness that appears south of my ankles. A pump would have been too polished, and a flat too meh. These wedges are exactly right. Can you imagine if I’d scrolled past them? The horror.
